Sourdough Starter

Sourdough starters are used to bake bread instead of using store-bought yeast (for recipes, check my blog). Some of the sourdoughs have been passed down for generations; time allows them to develop their unique taste properties. A sourdough is usually started by mixing flour* and water. Kefir or a yogurt can also replace the water for an extra shot of good bacterias in the starter.
We sell 4 different dried starters made on different flour types: rye, wheat and spelt
